Thankfully I have not had much experience with handling cremation (or funeral services of any type) of family. This is only my second time.

My first experience was with a business in Saskatchewan and the service was three times as expensive with almost no service what-so-ever. I was expecting more of the same. Was I ever pleasantly surprised.

Amy Boughazale came to my residence and walked me through the necessary forms. There was a small fee to complete one set of forms which was well worth it. ($30.00) I believe it was for the Death Form for CPP and OAS.

Prairie Rose returned to my residence approximately one week after my father passed away. They provided me with his ashes and a reconciliation regarding costs. (I had prepaid in a different province and it resulted in a refund.) They explained the procedures again to ensure I understood what was necessary. (Almost nothing as they had ensured almost all was taken care of. What I had to do? They provided a straight-forward explanation. When one is in distress and not necessarily thinking at one hundred percent of capacity this was very welcome.

Not once did they pressure me to purchase items or further services that were not required or necessary. They provided me information, invited me to visit their web-site, and contact them with any questions. For me this was perfect!

Lastly, there was a hand-written note inside the folder containing the funeral Director's Statement of Death and copies of other forms.

The mission statement as it is shown on one side of the card is to, "....provide families with the highest level of professionalism, care, compassion and service". Let me say in conclusion that you most certainly met this goal. I am very thankful for the service(s).

I handle some elderly peoples estates in Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary and carry out their funeral wishes. From when I first contacted Prairie Rose until the services were concluded, everything was looked after professionally and in a timely manner. I wish to express my deepest thanks to Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services. When you are aware that a loved one is going to pass soon you know that you will be speaking to a funeral home soon. Having a prior work relationship with Alternatives made this difficult time easier. Ryan was there for my father and my family in one of the worst times of our life. He was very professional, honest, accommodating, and showed us how much his professional relationship with my father meant to him. It was more than that. They had a friendship and we knew that this was not going to be easy for Ryan as a funeral director. Every meeting with that we had with Ryan was very difficult but he showed us a level of respect that we do not see much of anymore. We had the pleasure of providing audio visual services beside Alternative Funeral & Cremation services this week at Genesis Arena for a celebration of life. They certainly do provide an alternative creative service. The large memorial was a very special event hosted in a challenging but very unique hockey venue. It was a very memorable experience. Very friendly, compassionate and understanding. Pricing was better than expected, which during these times, is always welcome. Crissinda was especially a pleasure to deal with. She really listened and worked with us, and within our budget. I never once felt pressured to purchase things we weren't needing and it was refreshing to be treated like a person and not a sale. The service was flawless, and it was nice not having to take care of anything. Just 5-Star service all around! You 100% will get better service and way more using Alernative Funeral Services.

When my dad passed away 5 years ago, we called McInnis & Holloway to ask about booking a meeting. (We wound up going through Pierson's instead.) McInnis & Holloway assumed we would be booking with them, even though no meeting ever happened, and called the hospital and literally took our dad's body to their location. You can imagine how we felt when the Pierson's director told us they couldn't find our dad's body.

Piersons was very overpriced as well, and we were definitely pressured into the bigger and better. Also, we specifically asked that they not lower the casket at the service, but to do so after we left. They started to lower the casket and I actually had to yell out to stop.

Alternative funeral services was professional and respectful in my time of need. They did not try to upsell anything, rather presented various options and allowed me to choose. I am very happy with their service. Thank you Lorne and Celia for your service.

We had a wonderful experience dealing with Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services. After our family member passed away it was an overwhelming time for all of us and they were very helpful with their services.
We loved that they came to our home to fill out all the paperwork prior to the cremation of our loved one.
